From October 14 to 18, 2024, Shanghai ushered in a grand event of the textile machinery industry – 2024 China International Textile Machinery Exhibition (ITMA ASIA + CITME 2024). In this main exhibition window of Asian textile machinery manufacturers, Italian textile machinery enterprises occupy an important position, more than 50 Italian enterprises participated in the exhibition area of 1400 square meters, once again highlighting its leading position in the global textile machinery exports.
The national exhibition, jointly organized by ACIMIT and the Italian Foreign Trade Commission (ITA), will showcase the innovative technologies and products of 29 companies. The Chinese market is crucial for Italian manufacturers, with sales to China reaching 222 million euros in 2023. In the first half of this year, although the overall export of Italian textile machinery declined slightly, exports to China achieved a 38% increase.
Marco Salvade, chairman of ACIMIT, said at the press conference that the pick-up in the Chinese market could herald a recovery in global demand for textile machinery. He stressed that the customized solutions provided by Italian manufacturers not only promote the sustainable development of textile production, but also meet the needs of Chinese companies to reduce costs and environmental standards.
Augusto Di Giacinto, chief representative of the Shanghai Representative Office of the Italian Foreign Trade Commission, said that ITMA ASIA + CITME is the flagship representative of the China Textile Machinery Exhibition, where Italian companies will showcase cutting-edge technologies, focusing on digitalization and sustainability. He believes that Italy and China will continue to maintain a good momentum of development in textile machinery trade.
ACIMIT represents around 300 manufacturers that produce machinery with a turnover of around €2.3 billion, 86% of which is exported. The ITA is a government agency that supports the development of Italian companies in foreign markets and promotes the attraction of foreign investment in Italy.
At this exhibition, Italian manufacturers will showcase their latest innovations, focusing on improving the efficiency of textile production and further promoting the sustainable development of the industry. This is not only a technical demonstration, but also an important opportunity for cooperation between Italy and China in the field of textile machinery.
